Feedback & Testimonials

  • "Bex was excellent at dealing with the effects of my previous baby loss and trauma throughout my rainbow pregnancy and labour. The best decision I ever made! Incredible experience start to finish. Thank you so much, couldn't have done it without you!"

Áine, PGD IVF pregnancy after loss, birth doula support,

  • “The support during labour was invaluable and I will forever be grateful that Becky helped me achieve a VBAC and was a supporting hand during a long and difficult latent phase.”

Molly, second time mum having a VBAC, birth doula support

  • "After losing our daughter through a second trimester TFMR, followed by a subsequent miscarriage, we knew we wanted a doula to help us know what questions to ask, support us through the emotional journey of bringing home a living child and to advocate for us and our choices. Bex did all of that and more. Having her as part of our journey felt like sharing it with a good friend who just happens to be super knowledgeable about all things baby."

Natalie & Joe, pregnancy after loss, birth doula support

  • "It's difficult to put into words just how much of a positive impact Bex had on our pregnancy and birth journey. Her approach is evidence-based and entirely centred around the parents' decisions and feelings. It was like being carried through the experience by someone who really understands."

Jo, first time mum, birth doula support

  • "I don't even know where to start with how amazing Bex is as a doula! She was clear from the beginning about what she offered and guided me through the whole process step by step. This was really helpful as I had no idea what to expect from a doula or from the pregnancy and birth journey for twins. She was then there for me emotionally and practically at every opportunity ... She gave me space and support to explore all my options and reassured me that she would fight my corner. When it came to the birth, she was such a calming and necessary presence in the room. She met us at the hospital and just immediately took on communicating with the midwives so I didn't have to. She just did everything useful during and post birth, including indulging my craving for McDonald's! I wish everyone could have a doula, and specifically Bex, as both me and my husband just felt an extra level of reassurance, strength and support throughout a stressful, emotional and exhausting journey to twin parenthood. I absolutely recommend Bex!"

First time parents, birth doula support

  • "Bex was incredible from the moment we met her. She did everything she could to support us in our birthing journey and went above and beyond what we would have expected from a doula. Due to risks, I ended up having an induction which was not what I wanted. Because of her, I had a positive birth experience which could easily have gone the other way. We can’t thank her enough for the support! Highly recommend."

    Bobbie, first time Mum

  • "I don’t know where to begin in explaining the phenomenal impact Bex has had on our pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey. No paragraph will ever be able to capture it. No paragraph will ever be able to capture it. Whilst we had a natural conception as an older mum I was deluged with frightening information about still births and being funnelled into choices (like induction) that didn’t feel right for me from very early in the pregnancy. I wasn’t considering a Doula but I found Bex after a rather challenging OBGYN appointment and our whole experience started to change. So knowledgeable, open and present Bex often picked up on things I had no idea I was thinking or feeling. She also is fantastic in helping you weigh up genuine evidence based information rather than others opinions. She educated us with birth prep, helped us create a birth plan we were confident in, advocated for us and stayed with us during (a nearly four day) labour and, whilst it was nothing like I had hoped, Bex helped make sure it was a positive experience in every possible way and something I can look back on peacefully. After the birth she was also an invaluable, unshakable presence that steadied us in our first tender weeks as parents. She is a phenomenal woman and I will happily speak to anyone considering working with her as a doula to share more or answer any questions."

Why have a doula?

If you’ve made it here, perhaps you’ve already made up your mind about the benefits of having a doula, but just in case you wanted some hard facts to back you up, a 2023 review of 16 recent studies provides clear evidence that a doula isn’t just a ‘nice to have’ but can have a positive impact on you, your birth and your baby. Pretty neat.

“Doula guidance in perinatal care was associated with positive delivery outcomes including reduced cesarean sections, premature deliveries, and length of labor. Moreover, the emotional support provided by doulas was seen to reduce anxiety and stress.” Sobczak A. et al., 2023

Across numerous studies, the support of a doula has been shown to:

  • Reduced incidence of preterm birth, low birth weight babies and infant mortality rates

  • Reduce the incidence of C-section

  • Reduce epidural use and medical pain management

  • Reduce the length of labour

  • Reduce incidence of induction of labour

  • Reduce rates of anxiety, depression, and postpartum PTSD

  • Improve breastfeeding success
